On the move!

Drew has really been on the move lately. He is scooting backwards across the whole apparent and is rolling in both directions all over the place! For the last couple weeks he has been up on his hands and knees rocking and scootching. He is so much more grabby too. He's starting to open things and grabs anything he can get his hands on. And every time I put him down he puts his elbows back and tries to sit up. He has sat up a few times on his own from a little incline. He's so wiggly I can barley change his diaper! He a wild child and I'm scared! lol

Carrots anyone?

Probably the funniest picture ever! This is the face he makes when he swallows it!

He was trying to grab the cup and the spoon out of my hand!

Drew was very satisfied with his carrot meal!
I didn't know where to start with introducing food so I asked my midwife Molly who is also a nutritionist and naturopathic doctor. She is so awesome and I really trust her opinion. She gave me a list of foods to start at different months and talked to me about developmental milestones to look for to know when Drew was ready for food. A few things she mentioned where sitting without support, being over 6 months old, not tongue thrusting, ability to grab food and feed himself, cutting teeth and interest in food. With all that considered I felt like Drew was ready for food. Carrots where one of the vegetables on the list of first things to introduce and since I love carrots and carrot juice I thought he would be familiar to the taste since he has had the flavor many times through my breast milk! Originally I was going to go with a less sweet vegetable first but Molly told me it's good to start with a sweet one first because it's an easy transition from breast milk since breast milk it so sweet. So his first food was pureed carrots thinned out with breast milk. It was only a tablespoon and he didn't finish it but he actually really seemed to love it! He was reaching and trying to grab the spoon. He was leaning forward for more and he didn't spit any of it out!

Drew's first Thanksgiving

We had a great thanksgiving this year. We went to my sister Tabitha's house and got to hang out with my family all day.
This is the only way Drew will sleep with a bunch of noise and people. At least he sleeps!
My niece Elsa in my ergo. It's good to know that Drew will still fit in it for a while!

Sisters minus Cami
Our growing family!

About a month ago Drew started doing a forehead/nosey thing with Jared and I. It's the cutest and it totally seems like a sign of affection!

Cousins

It's been so nice living close to family with our baby. My older sister Tabitha and her family live 10 minutes away so we have been able to have play dates with her and her girls. Elsa and Drew are buddies. Drew seems so fascinated with everything Elsa does and Elsa has been so nice to share with him. She reads him stories and plays with him. It's so cute.

my little model

This is from when he was 5 months old. I forgot to post these but I love them. He was so chill for the camera. He just sat there looking around and hanging out. I love his chubby little hands with the finger dimples and permanent rubber band around his wrist! lol And I love the color of his eye right now. I'm wondering if they will stay blue or turn green like mine and Jareds. Only time will tell.

We love books

Drew loves it when we read to him. He will sometimes sit for 30min and look at books while I read to him. He has favorites already "the snail and the whale," "hop on pop," "caps for sale" and he likes "mirror me" because he can see himself! We also read from a kids bible book and he likes those stories. I know which ones he really likes because he smiles when I show him the book. The snail and the whale is probably his number 1 pick. He likes it when I do silly voices and even seems to anticipate the parts that I do the voices because before the certain parts he will look at me and wait for me to do a silly voice...then he smiles when I do it! It's so nice to have him like books so much and to be able to share my favorite childhood books with him. We have a good time and he doesn't even mind that I'm a total dork!

Happy half birthday Drew!

Wow...I can't believe it's been a half a year already! This little guy has grown and changed sooo much! His little personality is really coming out more and more. He always wants to be movin and shakin. He is sitting up much better on his own...he no longer leans forward on his hands now he can sit straight up. He still is a little wobbly but is getting more steady every day. He is a drool monster and he puts everything he can get his hands on in his mouth and slobbers all over it. He has two teeth on the bottom and loves to chew on stuff. Drew is scooting too...he goes backwards which seems to really frustrate him because he scoots away from his toys and every time he moves he gets farther away and more frustrated! He has learned how to roll toward his toys though which he likes. He is also standing really steady. I only have to hold his hands for balance and he also likes to take steps when he's standing. I wish we had a jumper or a saucer because he would probably really like that. Drew is still doing the screamer thing for fun "aaaahhhhh" at the top of his lungs. I call him my wild child sometimes. He is also making all kinds of sounds and it's so cute because sometimes it seems like he is having a conversations with me. I'll say something and then he looks at me and makes sounds and facial expressions like he's talking to me. So cute. And when he's upset he says "muum" when he's crying. I don't think he realizes what he's saying but I like to think he's calling for me. Ever since he got his teeth he has also been making the funniest old man face. I've been trying to get a picture of it. This months photo shoot was quick and I had my mom there to spot him in the chair because now he is a lot more mobile. It was so cute because he was sitting straight up in the chair and kind of rocking back and forth. I don't think he realized how he was doing it but because of his moving around it made the chair rock which he seemed to really like! I love this little guy. I can't wait to see what this month brings!

happy baby:))

Halloween!

This is my favorite picture from Halloween! My one toothed baby and pumpkin!
Halloween was fun this year! I love baby costumes and so it was hard to decide what to dress him up as. I went shopping with my mom and we found a really cute duck costume but when we brought it back and showed Jared his face said it all. When I asked him about it he said "it's not the most manly costume" he was right...it was adorable but it did have tights and I think drew will thank Jared later on for saving him from that one! A dinosaur is much more manly! lol

The week before Halloween was a tough one. Drew got his first tooth and we had a couple hard nights and fussy days. But he did surprisingly well at our trunk o treat. He was happy the whole time and even stayed up past his 7pm bed time.
My mom got him those cute shoes to go with his costume and Jared's mom got him the costume! Drew is very lucky to have such nice Grandmas.
We were lame parents this year and didn't dress up. Maybe we'll get our act together by next year.
Drew with the big boy dinosaurs! Raawww!
Dinosaurs where the popular little boy costumes this year. Drew's friend Ben was a dino too!

somewhere in the 5 month zone!

My little monkey boy leaning on his hands! He's actually been sitting straight up lately. He's still not totally stable though. These pics where from very early in the morning. I've never been a morning person but when he looks up at me and smiles I can't help but love it even if it's 6am!

He always makes the wide eyed surprised look when he see's my camera! I have to trick him into smiling by hiding the camera till the last second.
My boys definitely have a special relationship. I love to see them together. Drew really loves his dad. He also loves story time. Sometimes he will sit with me for like 30 minutes while I read to him. He likes it when we do funny voices too.

This is my little shark boy! Now all he needs is lava girl!
Drew loves to look at himself in the mirror! We listen to music and dance around in the mirror and he just smiles and laughs and loves every minute of it. It's fun for me too. I like to save mirror time for when I run out of things to do!
